| The Orchestra of Malacatancito began meeting in a small room in the center of town. Since there were few violins to loan, all students were required to practice on a board for 3 weeks before using a violin. Those students who were persistent and completed all assigned work were eventually given the opportunity to begin practicing with a real violin. Soon orchestra leaders were chosen so that they could help with younger more inexperienced students. Bit by bit the skill of all the students has improved. To be sure the requirement of practicing has discouraged some, and they have stopped coming, but those who remain are determined, have real talent, and hopes for the future. May God protect them, nurture them, and work some miracle by which they can eventually obtain more violins. Keep them in your prayers. If you can help with violins be sure to call or write us.
